Barton Creek Greenbelt

Not only do I like the name of this place, it reminded me of Greyrock Trail in Poudre Canyon, one of our favorite places to hike in Colorado.  I missed hiking while living in Katy!

We had a great hike/run/walk workout on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.  It really cured my crabby mood.

Check out this tree - it looks like a rock cut into it a while back and the tree has grown onto the rock!

Mr. B is such a gentleman, carrying water and snacks, breaking a thorny branch off so I don't run into it,  asking how I'm doing, not to mention waiting patiently while I take my pictures.  Together for sixteen years and he's still such a sweetheart. ♥

Fun With Shutter Delay

Nice counter.

Half-a-mom.

Looking Merry.

Enough!  This will just have to do.

Meet Old Joe

We have 8 trees in our yard now.  Six of them have grown up wild.  The builder had them trimmed for construction purposes, but they still looked pretty scraggly so we had an arborist come out to talk trees and trimming.  It was very interesting.  I was especially interested in the story of this tree. (This picture is after trimming.  See here for a picture of Mr. B standing by Old Joe in it's wild state.)

It is full of holes.

Look!  You can see right through the old guy!

The arborist thought it had been hit by lightning a time or two and been through some hard freezes.

This old oak is a survivor!
We hope to give it a cushy, stress free life from now on.

Saying Goodbye #2

We are crazy about this girl.

But she's all grown up now and off to college.  In the fall we dropped her off at Garner Hall, which she had to move out of because it is slated for demolition.  She is now in fabulous Hall 20 (a circa 1980's La Quinta converted to a dorm).  Goodbye #2 was only slightly less painful for cleanfreakworrywart mom.

I mean, look at that unsecured top bunk!  And don't get me started about how filthy dirty it was!

My Bella is a

kind of girl.  Lucky her.

Vous n'avez besoin que d'amour, right Ellie?
